Town of Del Norte Sidewalk Replacement Program
The Town of Del Norte is excited to announce that the Town Board has decided to try a new sidewalk replacement program for 2025!
Funds are limited for this first year, so if you have a sidewalk that needs replacing, please apply early! This program works on a first-come, first-served basis, so when the funds are gone, you will have to wait until next year.
The sidewalk replacement program is intended to assist homeowners within the Town of Del Norte with replacing the sidewalks within the Town’s right-of-way to improve pedestrian safety. Under this program, the Town pays for half of the cost of forming and placing the concrete; the property owner is responsible for the other half. The Town will remove the old concrete at no cost from the property owner. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the property owner to restore and/or reseed lawn areas disturbed during construction.
1) Submit a request to participate in the Del Norte Town Hall no later than May 10th of the year in which the work is to be completed. The request should include a rough sketch of the property which shows the work you want done.
2) By the 31st of May, the Town will provide an estimate of the costs for the work, broken down by that portion to be paid by the property owner, and that portion paid for by the Town. These estimates will be within 10% of the final costs. If there is an increase in the final costs in excess of 10% it will be absorbed by both parties.
3) The property owner must submit a down payment in the amount of 50% of their share of the costs within seven days of receipt of the estimate if they want the work done.
4) The Town will schedule the work and ensure that the work is properly done.
5) Once the construction is complete the property owner will receive a bill for the remainder of their portion of the work. Final payment is due within 30 days of receipt of the bill unless other arrangements were made when enrolling in the program. Failure to submit payment will result in an account being turned over for lien on the property.
The program is for replacement of existing sidewalk only. If evidence of past sidewalk can be shown, then it qualifies.
The program is for replacement of public walkways and not private walks from the street to the property.
Repairing for damages done by individuals or contractors in construction activities or other activities that may be detrimental to the integrity of the sidewalk will not be eligible for participation in the program.
